are handcrafted in cedar, a unique gift for the rancher or farmer.

These cedar wood barn bird houses where designed for the farmer, rancher and those of us with memories of the good old days.

The dairy barn birdhouse and old cupola barn bird house were inspired by my dad's father. Grandpa had a small dairy farm, he called the dairy barn the milk barn in those days. Grandpa taught me how to hand milk my first cow, what a thrill until I paid for that later in my youth.

The hay barn bird house idea came from my mother's father, the cattle rancher, he had two large hay barns big enough to drive 40 tons semi-trucks into the loft. This is where grandpa "Joe" taught me how to feed cattle, drive tractors and ride horses.

At the tender age of ten, the world changed when dad setup the family business feed lots in eastern Washington. Boy, did it change. Up early in the morning to help dad feed two to five hundred head of cattle, slop the pigs, scratch to the chickens, collect the eggs, and milk the cow before school, then start over again after school.

I have to admit the fun part was operating the tractors, riding the horse, cutting cattle and fishing in the creek. Sorry, I couldn't help myself from sharing all this nonessential personal experience.

It didn't take much imagination to design these cedar wood barn bird houses, just memories. For those of you out there that know someone with similar memories, or still running the ranch today, these cedar barn bird houses would be a unique gift for that special person.

Our bluebirds love the hay barn and old cupola barn and the swallow like them all, especially the dairy barn.
