Website optimization for small business.

If I were back in the classroom teaching this subject, this area would be a real challenge. Here's my problem. This whole area of website optimization, especially for the small business, is still having its diapers changed, almost daily.

Website optimization is a real tricky science, however, many website designers began to recognize the benefits of designing optimized websites, but only a few spent the time to understand the myriad things that needed attention to get the job done. Today, I find over half the website optimization designers do not in fact understand how to dot every i and cross every t, and there are hundreds.

Another problem is the array of names and titles used to describe the discipline of search engine optimization, which lends itself to misrepresentation, knowingly or unknowingly, so use care.

Now I love this acronym, simple, straight forward, and saves typing and ink. But, for the average small business owner, this is probably considered one of those "BUZZ" words for the insiders. I've always stayed away from buzz words with my clients, or explained them first. I've found most that use buzz words do so for status, not good communication skills.

There are other options to generate traffic to your website than website optimization. One of the widely used traffic generating marketing methods is biding and paying to have your website at or near the top of the list for any given keyphrase. Google's program is called Adwords. You bid for your position for each pacific keyword, set your budget, and Google does the rest.

How some other, once you get, even fair, at getting some of your webpages in the top 10 to 30, there isn't any bidding or budget to worry about, if free marketing, except of course, either your learning curve or seo designer initial costs.
