Small Business Consultant

About small business Consultants.

Small business consultant, small business consulting services, small business advice, or small business help may be necessary from time to time. I have found that even a small business consultant website may have some or a lot of free small business help or advice on their website.

Should you need the help of a consultant or consulting services, use care in selecting which one to use, and make sure you understand their agreement and fees.

If you get stuck in a specific area, make sure they understand that is the only help you want, furthermore, be sure they give you a quote or range of expected charges.

If time is money, this is the way to go, researching free information can add up time real fast. However, if you have more time than money, DIY - do it yourself, the information you need is out there, somewhere, on the internet.

Small business consultants or consulting service don't come cheap. Fees can run from $100 to $250 an hour for small businesses. Large corporations will expect to pay $250 to $500++. My fees in the past were $150, with a sliding scale for the exception to the rule. My sliding scale was determined by my gut feelings more than set conditions.

One of the problems I had occasionally was misunderstanding of changes the client would come up with. Make sure you and the consultant understands the initial objective and then any changes you want, and the potential costs.

Remember, by the nature of consulting, it can become very fluid, meaning there are no definitive measurements to consulting. Did the client state their needs clearly enough, and did I make sure I understood them correctly. Neither party is perfect, and it's this area of imperfection that can cause grief to both sides of an issue.

When you do your brainstorming, you'll get a feel for each other, and the initial brainstorming usually takes place before an agreement or money comes up.
